Probate

Probate is the process of dealing with a deceased person's estate. When a person passes away, if they have assets such as money in a bank or a property, in order to transfer those assets Probate must be done. 

When you obtain Probate, if the deceased made a will the document that is issued is known as a Grant of Probate.  When no Will exists the probate still needs to be obtained but the probate that is issued is known as Letters of Administration
